"UFO"

I thought I had this Strange Names track figured out after the first few bars. It felt like a dark and dirty disco single. Then, the song bubbles into something much different. The chorus morphs into a fun, warm indie dance tune. The bright guitars and layers of arpeggio make this song more than danceable.

Lyrically, "UFO" feels like an ode to a Stephen Spielberg blockbuster ("We are the little green men, We phone home, phone home"). Strange Names land on Earth, abduct a girl, and they're possibly eating her? ("You taste so good with a grain of salt") "UFO" is creatively written and intriguing to dive into. The breaks featuring a fast talking girl, recounting a UFO she saw in her yard, take me back to The Teenagers 'Reality Check'. This moment truly enhances the song, and confirms it's awesome absurdity.

"UFO" is an enjoyable, quirky, summery song. It makes out to be more entertaining than relatable, but that's exactly the point.

Strange Names is gearing up to release their second full length "Data", due February 23rd on Frenchkiss Records.
